The Windsor Police Service has arrested and charged a 17-year-old male following an armed robbery at a convenience store in the city’s west end Friday evening.The 17-year-old suspect, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with robbery with an offensive weapon.

After receiving reports of an armed robbery in the west end, officers said they arrived at the convenience store, located in the 1100 block of California Avenue, shortly before 9 p.m.

According to Windsor Police, the male suspect had entered the store and, while wielding a firearm, demanded money from the employee.

However, when the store’s employee refused to comply, police said the suspect fled the scene on foot.

After reviewing the store’s surveillance footage, officers said they were able to quickly locate the suspect, who was arrested at a nearby residence.

Police said the convenience store employee did not suffer any physical injuries as a result of the armed robbery.
