Amazon Fresh quickly delivers groceries, pet supplies, and more right to your home from multiple stores. Now, it’s available to everyone, even if you don’t have an Amazon Prime membership.
Earlier this year, Amazon started testing a pilot program offering its fast “under 2-hour” grocery delivery program for those without Prime, but only in select cities. You still have to pay a delivery fee like similar services, but the fact that it’s coming from Amazon Fresh grocery stores and a few other participating retailers, all in under two hours without a membership at all, makes this a pretty big deal.
Now, Amazon can better compete with InstaCart, Walmart, and even DoorDash, as the service is opening up to anyone and everyone. According to the press release, Amazon Fresh grocery delivery or in-store pickup is completely subscription-free. The option is available in more than 3,500 cities throughout the United States.
“We’re always looking for ways to make grocery shopping easy, fast, and affordable for all of our customers. Now, all customers can order groceries online for delivery or pickup from Amazon Fresh in the U.S., with Whole Foods Market coming soon – even if they don’t have a Prime membership. This marks another step in Amazon’s journey to build a best-in-class grocery shopping experience offering incredible selection, value, and convenience,” said Claire Peters, Vice President, Amazon Fresh.
More importantly, the list of stores is expanding. You’ll be able to get fast deliveries from Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market, Bristol Farms, Cardenas Market, Pet Food Express, Weis Market, and Save Mart, all within the two-hour limit. Then, in select regions, you can opt for a wider 6-hour delivery window at a reduced fee or expedited delivery for a few more dollars.
Depending on your order size, non-Prime members will pay anywhere from $7.95 to $13.95 in delivery fees. Those with Amazon Prime will pay less, so it’s still worth a membership for the other benefits, but this is an excellent option for those trying to reduce spending. In closing, Amazon said it’ll slowly expand the service to all Whole Foods locations. So, while it may not be immediately available in your area, check back in a few weeks.
