Even though the Galaxy Note lineup disappeared years ago, Samsung has not given up on the S Pen. Not only do we have the regular S Pen that’s included in Galaxy S Ultra smartphones, but we also have the S Pen Pro, which is compatible with a range of tablets and smartphones. Now, though, Samsung wants to take things one step further, as the company has released the S Pen Creator Edition — perhaps its most advanced S Pen to date.

The S Pen Creator Edition was previously announced alongside the Galaxy Tab S9 series, but it wasn’t available to buy, even though both the tablets and the foldable phones that were announced that day (the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5) went on sale shortly after the event. Now, Samsung has made this brand-new S Pen available to buy, and it looks promising.

S Pen Creator Edition

The company says that it’s its most advanced S Pen to date. It lacks air actions, weirdly enough, but it makes up for it with other features, such as enhanced tilt sensitivity when drawing/writing, better precision, and a button that can interact with whatever app you’re using. It’s also able to take the occasional splash, with an IPX4 rating. This is clearly not a product meant as a replacement to your regular S Pen, but if anything, it’s a competitor to the Apple Pencil, which Apple sells as the ultimate solution for drawing and notetaking. There are a couple of drawbacks compared to the S Pen you’re used to, but in exchange, you get a tool that’s great for creative applications and typical writing.

This new S Pen is compatible with all devices that were previously supported by the S Pen Pro. That includes the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and newer, Galaxy Note10 and newer, and the Galaxy Tab S Series. It also works with any Samsung Galaxy PCs that support the S Pen.

The only real holdup here, however, might be the price. At $99, it’s not the cheapest addition to your Samsung hardware. It’s now available for purchase, only in white.
