Blockchain tech firm Saga and MarbleX, a division of South Korean mobile gaming firm Netmarble, have teamed up to advance Web3 games.

San Francisco-based Saga is a Layer-1 protocol with a focus on a game dev ecosystem. It is joining with MarbleX to collaborate on the future landscape of Web3 gaming. This collaboration signifies a comprehensive alliance for Netmarble’s Web3 arm, MrableX, providing a Layer-1 protocol for technology and cohesively working on go-to-market strategies.

The partnership brings together the innovative capabilities of Saga’s Layer-1 protocol with MarbleX’s prowess in blockchain gaming. Saga’s tech, including its chainlets, offers the flexibility and scalability to meet the dynamic demands of the global gaming market.

This collaboration envisions a future where Web3 games can seamlessly operate across multiple chains, connecting in-game assets and enhancing the overall gaming experience.

Rebecca Liao, CEO of Saga, said in a statement, “MarbleX has an extensive and proven track record as a blockchain game company with a credible ecosystem in web3 gaming. We see great benefits from their expertise and influence, and we are excited about the potential to enhance MarbleX’s resources and experiences by collaborating with our Saga ecosystem.”

Saga’s expertise goes beyond providing technological infrastructure; the partnership includes providing user acquisition capabilities to MarbleX. This strategic move fortifies Saga’s presence in the growing Asian mobile games market — projected to exceed $65 billion in 2024. It also accelerates MarbleX’s global user base through Saga’s extensive ecosystem that spans Europe, the Americas, and Asia.

Hong Jin-Pyo, CEO of MarbleX, said in a statement, “Saga has a brand and ethos that is truly dedicated to enabling the next generation of gaming. Putting a priority on bridging the very wide gap between traditional and web3 gaming provided Saga with a succinct understanding of what developers need to get us there. And we have full confidence that Saga’s infrastructure can support the scale and quality that is essential to bring web3 gaming to a broad user base.”

MarbleX has outlined three primary areas of focus to expedite the adoption of web3 gaming: a multi-chain strategy, content acquisition with a focus on triple-A games, and proactive global marketing to reach gamers worldwide.

As a Layer-1 protocol, Saga has more than 320 innovator projects, of which 80% are games, as it gears up for its mainnet launch in Spring 2024. The protocol has solidified partnerships with flagship Web3 projects, including Polygon, Avalanche, and Celestia.

MarbleX aims to bring high-quality blockchain games to the market, offering key services such as a cryptocurrency wallet, token staking, and an NFT Marketplace. Founded in 2022, Saga is built on Cosmos and has expanded its presence by bringing diverse ecosystems into its Saga Multiverse through strategic partnerships.

Saga’s early seed investors include Placeholder, Maven11, Longhash, Samsung, Com2uS, and Polygon.
