Warner Bros. Discovery announced today that the 19th and final season of famous web series Red vs. Blue is launching as a full-length film.
The film, called Red vs. Blue: Restoration, releases on May 7 on Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Google Play and Vudu for purchase. It’ll be available to rent on May 21. The film launches as Rooster Teeth Productions is shutting down at the behest of parent company Warner Bros. Discovery.
Red vs. Blue returns after a years-long hiatus, and co-creator (and Rooster Teeth co-founder) Burnie Burns has returned to work on Restoration alongside director Matt Hullum. Hullum said of the production, “Red vs. Blue has been a cornerstone of Rooster Teeth’s legacy, and we’re immensely proud of what we’ve accomplished together.”
Burns left Rooster Teeth in 2020, but confirmed last year that he would write the script for the final season/film. According to the official blurb, in Restoration the Reds and Blues will have to team up despite their longstanding enmity to save the galaxy from “the universe’s greatest villain.” Burns said in a statement, “I’m thrilled to return for Red vs. Blue: Restoration, and to conclude this incredible twenty-one year journey with our longtime fans.”

GamesBeat Summit Call for Speakers
We’re thrilled to open our call for speakers to our flagship event, GamesBeat Summit 2024 hosted in Los Angeles, where we will explore the theme of “Resilience and Adaption”.
According to a memo published by IGN, Warner Bros. tried and failed to sell Rooster Teeth, and the company was shutting down due to “challenges facing digital media resulting in fundamental shifts in consumer behavior and monetization.” The Roost Podcast Network is continuing to operate at the present time, and Warner Bros. is reportedly also looking for buyers for its series, including Red vs. Blue.
