If there’s one thing that the extremely online love, it’s lore. Therefore, it’s no surprise that many people on the Internet are head over heels for Peepy toys, a set of criminal plushies out on bail and ready to misbehave at your house.
Peepy spottings are common on social media. Most recently, they appeared during the eclipse on Monday, when their owners cheerfully shared photos of their miniature companions wearing protective glasses. However, they’re basically the main characters year-round. Owners will post photos of their Peepy plushies getting caught stealing money or engaging in illegal building techniques.
While some have said that Peepy plush toys have “dead eyes” or are “creepy looking,” I think they look adorable. That probably says more about how deranged I am, though.
The plush’s designers, itemLabel, have created nearly two dozen Peepy toys so far, according to their website, though many are sold out. Each plushie is described as having committed a “dangerous and disrespectful crime.” No details are given except that they are “out on bail and ready to come to your house.” While details of their crimes are scant, itemLabel does provide info on their personality, including their strength, wisdom, weakness, and birthday.
One of my favorites is “Devil Peepy,” whose strength is designed as “devil” and “wisdom” is listed as mean. Sounds like me when people make me go places without feeding me first.
ItemLabel also does its part to keep Peepy’s criminal lore ongoing, posting TikToks of its various characters getting into car crashes or lurking in a rough-looking hallway. ItemLabel describes itself as a “revenge-based company” that aims to make products to “show up and embarrass our enemies.”
