OpenAI is moving more aggressively to corner the market on generative AI for enterprises large and small.

Today, the maker of ChatGPT is announcing a new subscription tier that slots in neatly between its ChatGPT Plus paid subscription for individual users ($20 per month) and its ChatGPT Enterprise plan for larger companies (variable pricing, but users report being quoted $60 per user per month).

The new ChatGPT Team tier costs $30 per user per month billed monthly, with a $5 discount per user when charged annually.

According to press materials sent to VentureBeat by OpenAI prior to today’s announcement of ChatGPT Team, the service includes:

Already, OpenAI has been quietly testing ChatGPT Team with selected customers, and of course the company is highlighting the positive things they have to say about the experience in an effort to toot the horn about how good it is.

OpenAI provided the following quote testimonials from early customers SourceGraph and Boston Children’s Hospital:

Connor O’Brien, VP of GTM Strategy & Operations at Sourcegraph, shares, “We use ChatGPT in almost every part of our business, from financial modeling for pricing and packaging to internal and external communications to board prep to recruiting and note taking — it’s accelerated everything we do allowing us to execute at a high level.”

Dr. John Brownstein, Chief Innovation Officer at Boston Children’s Hospital says, “With ChatGPT Team, we’ve been able to pilot innovative GPTs that enhance our team’s productivity and collaboration. As we integrate GPTs safely and responsibly across internal operations, we know the transformative impact this will have in strengthening the systems that enable our doctors, researchers, students, and administrative staff to provide exceptional care to every patient that walks through our doors.”

Moreover, OpenAI was keen to tout the fact that there has been significant uptake of its ChatGPT Enterprise product, with companies including Block, Canva, Carlyle, The Estée Lauder Companies, PwC, and Zapier among those using it.

Even as a number of vendors have launched offering generative AI services that are model-agnostic or that can be powered by open source models such as Meta’s Llama or Mistral’s Mixtral, ChatGPT is clearly hoping to be the first stop most companies of any size make when considering which AI services to use internally and deploy. ChatGPT Team, then, is a logical new offering for the new year.
