The New York Video Game Critics Circle (NYVGCC) has revealed which games it’s nominated for its 2023 Game Awards, including the titles that could win its Big Apple Award for Game of the Year. The slate of nominees include several games honored at The Game Awards last December, but also includes other “dark horse” titles, such as Starfield, Hi-Fi Rush and Armored Core VI.

Several of the games, including every title on the Big Apple list, appeared at the Golden Joystick awards. Other games from 2023 that haven’t yet been nominated for awards have made it onto the New York Game Awards nominees list, including Thirsty Suitors, Slay the Princess and El Paso, Elsewhere.

It’s also worth noting that the New York Game Awards honors remakes and remasters in a separate category from the primary Game of the Year award. While they are not necessarily excluded from the Game of the Year list, Resident Evil 4 is notable for its absence from that particular category while it’s included in the Best Remake list.
