Microids revealed a trailer for Amerzone: The Explorer’s Legacy, which it plans to launch on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S later this year. The game is a remake of the original Amerzone, the adventure game from Benoit Sokal that launched in 1999. According to Microids, the game has been rebuilt with new puzzles and graphics.
Amerzone, which predates Sokal’s classic Syberia titles, takes place in the fictional country of the same name. The player character is following the adventures of Valembois, an explorer who visited Amerzone and attempted to save a rare white bird species. The original game has sold over a million copies, says the developer.
Microids has continued Sokal’s series of adventure games, having released Syberia: The World Before in 2022. Other classic point-and-click adventure games are returning to the modern gaming scene, with Ron Gilbert launching Return to Monkey Island in the same year.
