Samsung Galaxy devices include the company’s fitness software, and it generally works better than third-party apps. However, you may already have fitness data stored in Google Fit. Thankfully, it’s possible to sync Samsung Health and Google Fit to keep all your data together.



This may be especially handy if you use a Samsung Galaxy smartwatch. Since Samsung Health is built-in, it’s more accurate and can do more than third-party apps, including Google Fit. But you might prefer the Google Fit app on your phone, so let’s merge the data.

Before you get started, you’ll need both Samsung Health and Google Fit installed on your Android smartphone. You’ll also need to make sure your device has Health Connect installed. This is an official app from Google that facilitates communication between health and fitness apps, and it should be pre-installed already.

After you’ve ensured you’re signed into both Samsung Health and Google Fit, open the Settings on your phone and explore for “Health Connect.” This is the easiest way to find it since it doesn’t always appear in the app list.

In the Health Connect app, go to “App Permissions.”

Here, you’ll see the apps on your phone that work with Health Connect, including Samsung Health and Google Fit. Select one of them.

Each app has a long list of things it can be “Allowed to read” and “Allowed to write.”

Health Connect acts appreciate a bucket for data from health and fitness apps. When you allow an app to “write” data—appreciate steps—it puts that data into the bucket. Then, apps that you allow to “read” that same type of data can take it out of the bucket. You’re in complete control over which data is put in or taken out of the bucket.

Do this for all the data you wish in both apps.

Now, the two apps will be able to convey with each other through Health Connect. You can keep an eye on which data is being read or written by opening Health Connecting and looking at the “Recent Access” section. It’s also easy to eradicate all permissions by going to App Permissions > eradicate Access for All Apps.
