The last time Hasbro asked you to throw down a lot of money to get a Star Wars toy made, it was to bring the crew of the Ghost, and their ship, to the Vintage Collection. Now the toymaker wants to bring things back down to earth—well, Tatooine—for something that’s less swooshable, but pretty hefty as is.
io9 can exclusively reveal that the next Star Wars campaign launching through Hasbro’s “Haslab” funding initiative is a replica of A New Hope’s Mos Eisley Cantina, scaled for the company’s 3.75″ Vintage Collection action figures. In a first for Hasbro, the campaign will offer two different editions of the cantina: a standard version, which includes the entrance to the cantina, the bar, and three modular sitting booths to connect together (and tons of furnishings, of course, including stools, seats, tables, and over 100 cups in eight different varieties), and a deluxe offering that includes an extra expansion set to flesh out three more sitting booths as well as even more accessories to complete the enclosed “circuit” of the bar with an extra wall piece.
Aside from all that, both versions of the Cantina will include three figures that are making their Vintage Collection debuts with new sculpts: Wuher, the surly (justifiably surly?) barkeep, and a package deal on two iconic background patrons in the form of infamous con artists Brea and Senni Tonnika. Each figure will come individually carded (yes, even the inseparable Tonnika sisters!) on retro-styled cardbacks, and include accessories of their own, including blasters, cups, and—most vitally for action figures designed to be posed in a bar scene—alternate cup-holding hands.
The Haslab Vintage Collection Mos Eisley Cantina campaign will run from today, June 7, for just over a month until 11:59 p.m. ET on July 8—and needs the support of 8,000 backers of either the base edition for $400, or the deluxe edition for $500, to enter production, ahead of an estimated shipping date in fall 2025. As with all Haslab campaigns however, if fans reach the minimum threshold they’ll get a chance to unlock three more figures as stretch goals:
- 11,000 Backer stretch goal: A newly-sculpted 3.75″ figure of Greedo the hapless Rodian bounty hunter, complete with blaster and cup accessories.
- 14,000 Backer stretch goal: Another new-to-TVC character in the form of the four-armed masked smuggler Nabrun Leids, who comes with two blasters, a cup and several mask hoses.
- 17,000 Backer stretch goal: One more new character that’s an even deeper cut for fans, Arleil Schous, a hairy Defel who’s so blink-and-you’ll-miss-it that he even had a shot cut from the Special Edition re-release of the movie. And of course, he also comes with a blaster and a cup.
