Viome Life Sciences, the Seattle-area health tech startup that sells gut microbiome tests, acquired Naring Health, another company developing “personalized nutrition” products and services.
- Terms of the deal were not disclosed. As part of the deal, Viome will acquire health monitoring service DiscernDX and food science platform Foodome, which operated within Naring Health.
- Naring Health raised investment from Khosla Ventures, which co-led Viome’s $86.5 million Series C round that closed earlier this year.
- Founded seven years ago by serial entrepreneur Naveen Jain, Viome sells at-home kits that analyze the microbial composition of stool samples and provide food recommendations, as well as supplements and probiotics. Investors poured in nearly $1.4 billion into U.S.-based gut microbiome companies in 2021, nearly four times the amount in 2016, according to PitchBook.
