Rockstar Games dropped the trailer for its upcoming game Grand Theft Auto VI early after months of speculation and leaks. The trailer itself leaked on social media, prompting the developer to publish the real thing shortly afterwards. The new trailer confirms the title of the upcoming game is Grand Theft Auto VI and that it will star two protagonists, a man and a woman. It also gives a release window of 2025.

Rockstar teased the announcement of the trailer last week with a much-parodied pastel splash screen. The teaser itself reveals few story elements, save the partnership between the two main characters and the debauchery of Vice City. We also got a glimpse of the kinds of environments and gangs they’ll likely face in the game. The female playable character is confirmed to be named Lucia, and she will likely be in prison at some point in the game.

While the release date hasn’t been precisely specified, it might be possible to narrow down a predicted window from parent company Take-Two’s financial reports. In May this year, the company said it planned to launch “groundbreaking titles” in the fiscal year ending on March 31, 2025, but that it expected the following fiscal year to be even bigger, which would imply the game is more admire to launch after March 2025.

Sadly, this is not the first-time footage of Grand Theft Auto VI has leaked. Last year, a hacker obtained footage of the game in development and released it online. Some of gameplay elements in that footage have yet to be confirmed, but Lucia’s name has been a consistent feature in all of the leaks so far.
