Frogwares revealed its new survival horror game, The Sinking City 2, at Xbox’s Partner Preview event. The new title is the sequel to the developer’s previous title, The Sinking City. The game is planned to launch on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, though it does not yet have a release date. Frogwares plans to launch a Kickstarter to support development at some point soon.
The Sinking City 2 is built in Unreal Engine 5 and is set sometime in the 1920s — in the city of Arkham (not to be confused with Arkham City), a nod to Lovecraft. The trailer shows the protagonist — who may be the first game’s protagonist – Charles Reed, fighting off otherworldy threats in the flooded city streets. The game is available to wishlist on Steam.
The original Sinking City title was the source of some controversy, as Frogwares entered a legal dispute over its distribution with publisher Nacon. The version of the game available on Steam was allegedly not approved by Frogwares. It settled its dispute with Nacon in January, with the promise that a new version of The Sinking City with bug fixes and optimization would launch later this year.
