Square Enix today revealed the first two DLCs for Final Fantasy XVI at The Game Awards. They’re called Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide. Echoes of the Fallen launches today, while The Rising Tide is due to launch sometime in Spring 2024. Both DLC will apparently add to the main game’s story and take place before the game’s final battle.
While the trailer itself didn’t include much info, Square Enix revealed more details in a PlayStation Blog post. In Echoes of the Fallen, Clive and his companions are called upon to probe mysterious black crystals. According to the narration, the crystals are linked to Eikonoclasts, magical weapons used in the Magitec War. The DLC takes place before the game’s final battle, and the characters must probe a derelict tower called the Sagespire.
There was much less information on The Rising Tide, save the confirmation that it will feature the mysterious lost Eikon, Leviathan. The trailer also shows the return of other familiar Final Fantasy figures, including the vicious Tonberry enemies. Both DLC are available for purchase, or to those who’ve bought the Expansion Pass.
