HomeKit Insider Podcast

On this episode of HomeKit Insider, your hosts go through several new product launches and postulate how Apple could leverage AI in the smart home.

Aqara had two new products announced this week. They first went back to Kickstarter for their new U200 door lock, while also releasing the T1M ceiling light.

The door lock is a retrofit solution with Matter support and the promise of Home Key in a future update. The ceiling light has two different lighting zones and supports Apple’s Adaptive Lighting.

Eve quietly debuted a new product this week, but not for US users. Showing up in select EU countries, the Eve Outdoor Outlet brings Matter over Thread to your exterior receptacles.

It has a similar design to Eve’s other outdoor products such as the Eve Outdoor Cam and the latest Eve Aqua.

After quite a bit of silence, Lifx is back with a new line of outside smart lights. There are light strips, string lights, spotlights, and path lights that support the full color spectrum, Matter over Wi-Fi, and are some of the brightest on the market.

We finish off the episode discussing future AI potential for Apple Home. The idea of having some AI-powered summary that can tell you what happened at your house while you were away is very appealing.
