Broadcom, the San Jose, Calif.-based semiconductor and software tech multinational, is laying off 158 workers in Bellevue, Wash., according to a new filing with the Washington state Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) system.
- Broadcom does not have an office in Bellevue or the Seattle region, according to its website.
- However, the company just completed its $69 billion acquisition of cloud giant VMware — which had an office in Bellevue.
- A similar WARN was issued in Colorado, with 184 employees let go by Broadcom as a result of the acquisition. Insider reported that some VMware employees were informed of layoffs on Monday.
- The layoffs in Bellevue are effective starting Jan. 26 of next year. We’ve reached out to Broadcom about the cuts and will update this story if we hear back.
