Dyson is more than vacuum cleaners and hair styling tools. The brand also makes headphones. Why haven’t you heard of them? Oh, probably due to the fact that the very first pair they made happened to retail for $700 when they debuted. The Dyson Zone Active Noise-Cancelling Headphones & Air Purifier is a peculiar product, combining Dyson audio with the bizarre addition of a personal air purifier on board. Strange, yes, but also something that might be fun to try. If you’ve been curious about how this gadget works, but didn’t want to spend an entire paycheck, it’s on sale now for a much more affordable price.

As of Jan. 18, Dyson Zone Active Noise-Cancelling Headphones & Air Purifier is on sale for $379.99 at Woot!. That’s a savings of $320 and a discount of 46%. It’s limited to two per customer, and this is a brand new model — not a refurbished unit.

Yes, the Dyson Zone is essentially a pair of headphones with an air purifier attached to them. It boasts crisp audio with advanced noise cancellation and signal processing for better overall sounds. With eight active noice-cancelling microphones and two used for phone calls, it claims to be able to deliver great audio even when the world is trying to drown your tunes out. It also features a custom EQ for you to better adjust audio to fit your own specifications.

Here’s where things get a little weird. The contact-free visor on board can be pulled down to deliver a stream of purified air that’s been cleaned with activated carbon filters directly to your nose and mouth. The unit uses electrostatic filters to capture up to 99% of particles in the air, and it will absorb fumes like nitrogen dioxide while cutting down on odors. It won’t touch your face either, so there’s no contaminants getting in from your skin.

Mashable Deals

All that, and you should get about 50 hours of noise-cancelling audio playback or 4 hours of air purification. That isn’t bad, and you don’t have to use the detachable filter. It’s not a bad price if you’ve been looking for a reason to try it.
