D&A Studios, the developer of Conrad Stevenson’s Paranormal P.I., announced their new game this week. Called Among the Whispers — Provocation, the game is an adventure title with RPG elements about confronting the paranormal. It features procedurally generated locations and ghosts. It’s currently available to wishlist on Steam, though it doesn’t currently have a release date.
The player character is a young woman named Stephanie, who investigates a large mansion by request to confront the spirits within. The player can traverse the mansion multiple times, each time remaking the procedurally generated locations. In order to draw out the ghosts, the players must use “provocations,” which can vary.
According to the developer, Provocation is the first in the Among the Whispers series, which it plans to expand upon. They said in a statement, “The scope of Among the Whispers is large and ambitious with many elements needing to be explored and developed. So, to accomplish this, several games smaller in scope will be released. Each game will focus on particular elements, fine tuning the aspect under study.”
