If you’re a movie fan who isn’t into football, the Super Bowl means something else entirely. It’s the event where major movie studios regularly choose to roll out the first trailers for some of the biggest movies of the year. And, in 2024, that’ll be the case again with several of 2024’s biggest films likely to get Super Bowl spots, several of which we haven’t seen a single image from yet.
So what are they? Here’s the list.
2024 Movies Likely To Have Super Bowl Commercials
- Deadpool 3
- Inside Out 2
- Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
- A Quiet Place: Day One
- IF
- Bob Marley: One Love
- Wicked
- The Fall Guy
- Kung Fu Panda 4
- Twisters
That’s according to Variety and, of course, could be subject to change. How does it break down though? With the game on CBS this year, obviously a sister company is going to have some films to promote. So Paramount, owned by the same company as CBS, is choosing Quiet Place, IF, and Bob Marley. It’s a little bit of a bummer to not see Transformers One or Gladiator 2, but those are fall movies, so you get it.
Oh, and apparently Paramount will be advertising a lot of its Paramount+ streaming shows too, including a first look at the Sonic the Hedgehog spinoff, Knuckles.
Disney is also planning to go big with Deadpool 3, Inside Out 2, and Apes. We’ve already seen teases of Inside Out 2 and Apes so the big one here, of course, is Deadpool 3. Will we get an official title? What will the trailer reveal? We can’t wait to find out.
Universal rounds out the group with arguably the most exciting slate. Mostly because, while we’ve seen trailers for The Fall Guy and Kung Fu Panda already, we haven’t seen anything from Wicked or Twisters. Heck, we don’t even know what Twisters is about… other than tornadoes. So those will be very interesting to see come Sunday.
Missing from this list are Warner Bros., Sony, Netflix, and Amazon, none of which are expected to have any spots. This seems particularly surprising for Warner Bros. and Sony which each have huge movies coming in the next few weeks—Dune Part Two and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire—but at least Dune advertised during the AFC and NFC Championship games. And, sorry Spider-Man fans, looks like no Madame Web.
But there is it. Which are you most excited to see? And, if you miss them on CBS during the game Sunday afternoon—check io9. We’ll have them up ASAP.
