How big is too big for a laptop? You can find laptops in all kinds of sizes, with the smallest ones being about 11 inches and the biggest ones being much bigger than this. The bigger laptops can occasionally be considered too unwieldy to actually serve their purpose — to be portable — but they’re still a pleasure to use. Case in point, Alienware just released one of its biggest laptops to date, the newest model in the m18 series.
Alienware just launched the new m18, a massive 18-inch laptop that is built for gaming. Most huge laptops are usually between 15 inches and 17 inches, so this laptop with an 18-inch display gives you even more room to work and play. This display is available in either a 2560×1600 resolution, with a 165Hz refresh rate, or in a 1920×1200 resolution with a way faster 480Hz refresh rate, so it really comes down to whether you value resolution or a fast refresh rate more. Both are great, though.
This isn’t Alienware’s first massive gaming laptop. Alienware had launched a m18 earlier this year, but that one had Intel processors. This one, however, comes with the best AMD CPUs available — this laptop can be equipped with up to an AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX, which has a whopping 16 cores and 32 threads, as well as 80MB of cache. It’s also available with AMD’s RDNA 3 GPUs and NVIDIA’s Ada Lovelace GPUs. More specifically, you can equip this with up to either an RTX 4090 or a Radeon RX 7900M, ensuring whatever game you throw at this will look as slick as possible.
As for other hardware, the laptop is available with up to 64GB of RAM and a whopping 8.5TB of SSD storage. So really, this laptop is the definition of going all out. This is as close as you’ll get to being able to put your whole desktop gaming PC in your backpack, and while you’ll still need a big backpack, this is a tempting device for someone who wants something close to a desktop workstation or gaming PC in a slightly more compact package.
We have no pricing or availability information about this laptop right now, but it should be available soon at Dell’s online store and other retailers. It won’t come cheap, though.
