Berlin (d.de) – The German government has adopted “Solar Package I”, a legislative package designed to further accelerate the expansion of solar power in Germany. The bureaucracy involved in building and operating photovoltaic systems of all sizes will be reduced, and the installation in particular of small “balcony power plants” will be made easier. New photovoltaic systems are already being installed at a rapid rate: 2023 saw nearly twice as many new solar plants installed as the year before. The Solar Package is to help achieve the targets of expanding solar power by an additional 13 gigawatts in 2024 and 18 gigawatts in 2025. Roughly half of the additional capacity will be installed on open spaces and the other on roofs.
