A 24-year-old southern Alberta woman faces an impaired driving charge relating to a Thursday single-vehicle rollover in Lethbridge that resulted in the death of a 25-year-old man, Lethbridge police said Friday.

Police responded just before 3 a.m. Thursday to a rollover near Lethbridge’s Pavan Park. Officers found a vehicle on its roof, three uninjured females and a critically injured male still inside the upturned vehicle.

Officers also found a female performing CPR on the man, and police took over life-saving measures until EMS arrived.

The man was transported to Lethbridge’s Chinook Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A 24-year-old woman was driving the vehicle when it rolled multiple times down a coulee before coming to rest on its roof, said Lethbridge police in a Friday news release.

The woman allegedly displayed signs of impairment. She was arrested and charged after police investigated further.

Jesse Ann Fortune, 24, of Shaughnessy, a hamlet about 17 kilometres north of Lethbridge, is charged with impaired driving causing death, impaired operation over .08 causing death and dangerous driving causing death.

Following a bail hearing, Fortune was released from custody with conditions, which include prohibiting her from operating any motor vehicle. She is scheduled to appear in court May 30.
