Brockenshire’s move to weCHC, facilitated by an executive recruitment process, will follow the retirement of Rita Taillefer, who announced her departure late last year.

Brockenshire is a “seasoned health-care executive with a proven track record of integrating processes, people, and technology to enhance the safety, quality, and accessibility of care for patients,” weCHC said in a release. “With over 30 years of managerial experience spanning diverse sectors, Nancy brings a unique blend of expertise, including advertising and marketing, lean automotive practices, as well as leadership experiences in hospital and community health-care settings.”

Both Brockenshire and Bortolin are Windsor natives.

“Nancy is a respected, visionary, and knowledgeable leader who is committed to delivering accessible, inclusive and collaborative care to the community,” said Dr. Justine Taylor, chair of weCHC’s board of directors. “Nancy understands the challenges faced by clients accessing health-care services and is committed to working collaboratively with community partners to develop programs and services to eliminate barriers and challenges in care access.”

She holds two degrees from the University of Windsor — an honours bachelor of arts and social science, and a master of business administration. She also holds the certified fundraising executive  designation. In 2018, Bortolin was named to the Top 40 Leaders Under 40 list by Leadership Windsor-Essex. She is the 2021 recipient of the Odyssey Award from the University of Windsor Alumni Association.

“Katharen not only brings several years of experience in a leadership role at Hospice, and previously at the Windsor Regional Hospital Cancer Program, but she also has a passionate commitment to enhancing local healthcare services and improving patient experiences,” says a news release from the Hospice of Windsor and Essex County.
