Police said most of the charges laid were for speeding.

Officer with the Ontario Provincial Police, Windsor Police Service and Lasalle Police Service tagged speeders for dangerous driving behaviours.

One driver who was charged with stunt driving is alleged to have been travelling 180 kilometres per hour in a 100-kilometre-per-hour zone.

Inspectors charged commercial motor vehicle operators for equipment, annual inspection and documentation infractions.

“The OPP appreciates the staunch support from the LaSalle and Windsor Police Services and the MTO,” said Essex detachment commander Insp. Angela Ferguson in a news release.

“Hopefully, this will have an impact on our highways and keep construction workers safe.”

The OPP also remind motorists that speeding in a construction zone with workers present is both dangerous and costly because fines are doubled.
