Like J.M. Fraser of Spruce Grove said, why not provide this service for free once you have reached that milestone of 65? Better yet, why do we even have to pay an annual registries fee at all? If none of your information has changed, what is the point? If you have a trailer, those plates feature permanent registration. Certainly, anytime you move or change vehicles, you need to update your registration, but that is a logical requirement. Paying a fee for a little sticker? Oh wait, those aren’t even issued anymore.

Is this fee simply there to cover the associated costs of managing the process? Eliminate this ridiculous fee entirely and save the taxpayers the burden of paying for at least one useless thing.

Dog attack demands accountability
It is now reported that a couple of months ago, a lady suffered serious injuries from two dogs located at the same address where the 11-year-old boy was killed on Monday night.
The provincial Dangerous Dog Act provides that if a complaint is made about a dog bite or a dangerous dog not kept under control, that an application can be made to a justice for an order that the dog be destroyed. Unfortunately, I believe that our animal control people are more concerned about dog owner rights than the safety of human beings at risk.
After the first dog attack which resulted in serious injuries to a person, why was an application not made? That application would have saved a human life. Will there be accountability by someone? Will city council make it the priority it deserves? Will mayor and council demand competency and accountability by its workforce? People die if they don’t do their jobs. Will the EPS charge the owner of these dogs with criminal negligence causing death? The electorate should demand better from our city staff.

All rebates come from taxpayers
This is for all those people across Canada that think they are going to get more money back than they pay in carbon tax. Let’s start by saying the government gets all its money from the people. So if you pay $100 in carbon tax and the government says they are going to give you $125 back you just have to ask where the $25 is coming from.
Remember the government gets its money from the people. Let that sink in for a little while.
