Controlling the game from opening tip-off, the University of Saskatchewan Huskies downed the University of Calgary Dinos 85-54 in U Sports Women’s Final 8 quarter-final action Thursday night in Edmonton.
With the win, Saskatchewan advances to Saturday’s semifinal game (7 p.m. Sask. time, 6 p.m. MST) against the winner between the host Alberta Golden Bears and Laval Rouge et Or.

The Huskies led from start to finish Thursday.
Gage Grassick was the player of the game for the Huskies, finishing the game with a game-high 19 points and seven steals to go along with eight rebounds and three assists.
Carly Ahlstrom and May Flindall also reached double digits in scoring with 14 points and 11 points, respectively for Saskatchewan, which led by as many as 40 points in the fourth quarter.
Andrea Dodig and Ella Murphy-Wiebe each tallied nine points for the Huskies, seeded No. 1 for the national championship tournament. Logan Reider and Tea DeMong added six points apiece for Saskatchewan.
The Huskies were up 19-9 after the opening quarter and then expanded that lead to 41-16 at the half and 68-40 after three quarters.
Myriam Kone led the No. 8-seeded Dinos with 15 points, three steals and three assists. Mya Proctor added 12 points for Calgary, which finished the regular season with a 16-4 record in the Canada West while Saskatchewan sat atop the conference at 19-1.
Louise Rouse chipped in with 10 rebounds and seven points.
