It is believed that Davidenas was killed hours after her disappearance on Feb. 17; however, her remains have not been located, police said.

“Since then, we have received numerous tips and taken several investigative steps in an attempt to locate Chelsea. Sadly, based on the totality of the evidence collected, investigators believe that foul play was involved, and that Chelsea was the victim of a homicide,” said police.

It is alleged that Davidenas was lured to a residence located in the 5600 block of Rundlehorn Drive N.E. by two men who were known to her, and killed shortly after.

Police were able to arrest the two men based on a significant amount of physical and digital evidence collected to date. It is believed that Davidenas was targeted because of her history as a sex worker.

Steven Aaron Zwick, 26, of Airdrie, and Paul Joseph Rushton, 52, of Calgary, have each been charged with one count of first-degree murder. They are set to appear in court on Thursday.

“Tragically, this is not the update that we’d hope to make. We are committed to finding answers for Chelsea’s family and will not rest until her remains have been located,” said CPS Staff Sgt. Mark Rahn in a press release.

Police continue to search for Davidenas’ remains, and are asking anyone with information to come forward by calling 403-266-1234 or submitting tips anonymously to Crime Stoppers. They believe her remains were removed from the residence on Feb. 20, and transported in a stolen, dark blue, low-profile 2001 Honda Civic with white rims to a rural, lightly treed area southeast of Chestermere.
