What Albertan in their right mind is happy to hear that Shandro and Redford have been appointed to relatively prestigious jobs on the board of directors of Covenant Heath and Redford on the Invest Alberta Corporation? Shandro stands to benefit directly through his wife’s Vital Health company by reduced drug coverage for seniors, the switch from biologics to biosimilars and generally from increased health-care privatization.

As far as Redford goes, we all know why she resigned in disgrace as Alberta’s first woman premier. Kenney also got a cushy job doing nothing with Atco. My question is, where is the former distracted-driving minister of Justice, Kaycee Madu? Surely, he’s lining up at the trough somewhere.

Alberta politics are and always have been a disgrace, but I get the feeling that a new and improved NDP will send the UCP packing and all I can say is, good riddance.

UCP laws subvert democracy

As with so many others, in the past weekend, I spent a great deal of time watching the ceremonies observing the 80th anniversary of D-Day. In all the speakers and people observing, the one unifying theme that was emphasized repeatedly: that the day and the war with its awful loss of life was to preserve democracy.

I find it totally monstrous that the UCP government under Premier Danielle Smith has actually passed legislation to subvert the democratically elected municipal governments in Alberta by removing councillors or mayors which they, the provincial government, don’t like.

Shame on MPs who aided meddling

Only “traitors” would protect the identity of traitors. Justin Trudeau’s government protection of members of Parliament who betrayed Canada, by helping foreign governments that hurt Canada is unconscionable. Considering that in Canada we used to hang traitors, these Liberals should consider themselves very lucky that the worst that will happen to them, is to be voted out of office with a golden pension for life. Shame on them.

Pork-barreling problem at legislature

And I thought it was just feral pigs in rural Alberta that posed a problem. Little did I know that the feral pig problem also exists in the Alberta legislature. The squeals of delight coming from the loyal UCP party members resonate through the legislature as they are rewarded with plush government appointments.

These are the UC pigs feeding at the trough of the public purse. As Danielle Smith continues to tell us what we need, so more committees will be formed and the blatant pork barreling will continue. Build that hog barn of a government building bigger and be sure to put in a penthouse. My apologies to the respectable pigs in the party and on the farms in Alberta.
