CHATHAM-KENT — The trial of a Windsor man charged in a deadly crash two years ago has been delayed again and won’t start until the fall.
Brett Iler, 28, faces two counts of careless driving causing death, three counts of careless driving causing injury and six counts of dangerous driving stemming from the four-vehicle crash that killed two at Queen’s Line and Dillon Road on May 27, 2002.

The trial, which had been set to begin Tuesday after being adjourned earlier this month due to a medical issue, has now been scheduled for October.
Iler’s lawyer, Alexandra Cardella, appeared in provincial offences court by video Tuesday to confirm new trial dates have been set for Oct. 9 to 11 and 17.
No reason was given for the delay.
The trial had been scheduled to start March 4, but court heard Iler was scheduled for surgery that afternoon for a shoulder injury. The matter returned to court March 6, but Iler was not in court and the trial was adjourned until Tuesday.
On March 6, Crown lawyer Ryan Iaquinta told court he was ready to proceed, but didn’t oppose the delay due to Iler’s medical issue and the medication he was taking.
Iler was charged after an eastbound vehicle collided just west of Chatham with a westbound pickup on Queen’s Line, then with an older-model Buick with five occupants behind the truck, police have said.
Two occupants of the Buick were pronounced dead at the scene, police said. All other involved occupants were treated at hospital in Chatham.
A fourth vehicle veered off the road to avoid the crash, police said.
