The trial of three men accused of abducting a 16-year-old girl while she was working at a restaurant in Kirkland nearly three years ago has been pushed back to November and December at the Montreal courthouse.

A seven-day trial was scheduled to begin Monday before Quebec Court Judge Thierry Nadon, but the defence requested the delay because one of the witnesses is ill.

Late at night on July 26, 2021, the girl was abducted from a restaurant where she worked on St-Charles Blvd. An Amber Alert was issued, but the girl showed up at a Montreal police station the following day. Two of her brothers and a third man, a resident of Pierrefonds, were arrested the same day.

All three of the accused are charged with kidnapping and forcible confinement and are out on bail. The brothers, ages 25 and 24, are residents of Dollard-des-Ormeaux and the St-Laurent borough and face two counts each of assault.

The names of the accused have been placed under a publication ban to protect the identity of the victim.
