The most surprising thing was how fast ticket prices updated overnight, Rhiannon O’Donohoe, digital public relations specialist with Casino.org, told Postmedia Wednesday.

“Obviously, nobody knew if Game 6 was going to happen … but then finding out that it increased by almost 100 per cent overnight, I was like, ‘Oh my God, people really want to go but also really want to make money off of it too,’” she said, noting prices are higher this year compared to last.

“I think because the Stanley Cup’s going to make history either way for either team, the prices are soaring right now … because people want to witness this in person.”

The nationwide study asked 1,000 Oilers fans — with an average age of 41 — one simple question on Monday: how much are you willing to spend to attend a Stanley Cup game?

“The range is about $100 to $1,000, typically,” O’Donohoe said, “but I saw one fan who’s willing to spend $4,000. One was willing to spend $5,000 — so, dedication.”
