Police have charged a 36-year-old man with first-degree murder in connection with a February death.

On Feb. 17, a 48-year-old man was shot inside a home in the 200 block of Avenue I South. He later died in hospital. Police have not released his name.

As a result of continued investigation, the 36-year-old is the third person charged in connection with the death. He was set to appear in court Monday afternoon.

Two other men, ages 37 and 34, were charged with first-degree murder earlier this month. They made their first court appearances on April 4 and were remanded in custody until their next court date on April 18.

Police didn’t release the suspects’ names, but court records indicate the first two accused men are Tyrone Frances Nepoose and Robin John Stone.

The death was Saskatoon’s third homicide of 2024. Police at the time said the victim and suspect were known to each other.

The victim in the city’s first homicide of the year was a 25-year-old Alberta man whose body was found in a home in the 600 block of Lisgar Avenue in the early hours of Feb. 3. Officers executing a search warrant related to an aggravated assault investigation involving firearms discovered the body. A 34-year-old Saskatoon man and a 32-year-old woman are charged with first-degree murder.

On Feb. 9, a 48-year-old Saskatoon man died of a gunshot wound in the city’s second homicide of the year. A 21-year-old Saskatoon man has been charged in that case.

The fourth homicide of 2024 took place on Feb. 19. According to police, officers responded around 2 p.m. to a report of a man stabbed in the 200 block of 20th Street West. After an investigation involving the major crimes, serious assault and forensic identification units, a 24-year-old man was charged with second-degree murder.
