Quebec’s police watchdog, the Bureau des enquêtes indépendants, has opened an investigation after a person suffered serious injuries after an arrest by the Sûreté du Québec in Campbell’s Bay Friday morning.
In a release, the BEI said a person was arrested at their home at about 8:40 a.m.

“At around 11:15 a.m., the person was found unconscious on the floor of the interrogation room,” the release states.
The person was given first aid and then taken to hospital, where their condition was said to be serious.
At approximately 2:30 p.m., the BEI launched its investigation.
Five BEI investigators were tasked with investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The BEI also engaged Montreal police to conduct a parallel criminal investigation into the incident.
Campbell’s Bay is approximately 100 kilometres northwest of Ottawa.
