All Saints Springhill Hospital patients were evacuated last night after smoke filled the building.

In a release, Nova Scotia Health did not confirm that there was a fire at the hospital but did say that the facility is now closed to allow time for “assessment and remediation.”

All of the 21 patients that were staying at the hospital have been transferred to other sites within NSH’s Northern Zone or have been sent home in what is being called a temporary move.

All appointments at All Saints scheduled for Tuesday have been cancelled, and renal dialysis is being provided for patients at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.

NHS said updates will be provided later today.
