A Saskatchewan company pleaded guilty recently to violations of the province’s occupational health and safety regulations in connection with serious workplace incidents in 2021 and 2022.

In the first incident, on Nov. 11, 2021, a worker was “struck by a gate and seriously injured while attempting to load bulls onto a trailer,” the release said. The company was fined for failing to provide approved protective headwear and require the worker to use it where there is risk of a head injury.

In the second incident, on Jan. 26, 2022, “a worker was fatally injured while attempting to clear snow off a roof when the worker fell through a fibreglass skylight,” the release said.

The company pleaded guilty to failing to ensure that workers use a fall protection system at a work area if the worker may fall three metres or more.

The release said five other charges were withdrawn.
