A store in a Pierrefonds strip mall was heavily damaged early Monday after it was targeted for arson, Montreal police said.

There were no reported injuries and the search for suspects was continuing on Monday morning.

An alarm alert was received the at the 911 centre at about 12:20 a.m. reporting a fire had broken out at the store, located on Pierrefonds Blvd. near Hamel St. in the Sainte-Geneviève.district.

Firefighters arriving at the scene found the store’s front window had been broken and flammables spread inside and ignited.

The flames were quickly extinguished but damage to the store was severe.

The investigation has been transferred to the Montreal police arson squad which will examine local surveillance camera recordings in an effort to determine to how the incident unfolded.
