Peel Regional Police have issued a warning over taxpayer or CRA-related frauds with March being both Fraud Prevention Month and tax season.

Authorities say fraudsters pretend to be members of the Canada Revenue Agency in order to get personal information, money, and or identity.

Police say this year’s attacks are more convincing than ever with communications more realistic and appearing legitimate using Government of Canada logos.
The hope is someone will click on the link that directs them to their web page where the fraudsters steal personal information, such as passwords and social insurance numbers.
Police are reminding everyone that CRA will not ask you for personal or financial information by email or to click on a re-directing link.
