Calgary police are asking for the public’s help as officers investigate the death of a woman struck by a vehicle on the Centre Street bridge this weekend.

It’s believed a woman in her 20s was walking on a northbound lane in the 100 block of Centre Street North around 2 a.m. Sunday when she was struck a white two-door sport coupe being driven by a man in his 20s, police said in a statement issued Sunday afternoon.

The pedestrian came to rest on the southbound lanes of the bridge in life-threatening condition, police said. Emergency services transported her to a hospital, where she was later declared dead.

The driver stayed at the scene of the crash. Speed and impairment are not believed to be factors in the collision, according to the police service.
