Two people were arrested after Windsor police seized two loaded shotguns Thursday from an apartment.

Officers with the problem-oriented policing unit were called to an apartment building in the 300 block of Glengarry Avenue, shortly before 6 p.m.

Police said they reviewed surveillance video at the scene that showed two men carrying what appeared to be shotguns in the building.

Officers searched the building and located two suspects, along with the guns.

A 33-year-old man faces five weapons charges, including possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted weapon, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm without holding a licence, as well as a failure to comply with a release order charge.

A 28-year-old man has been charged with three weapons counts — possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted weapon, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm without holding a licence.

The investigation is ongoing.

In September of 2023, Windsor police checked on an unconscious man in the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked in the 1000 block of Janette Avenue and ended up arresting him after finding a loaded sawed-off shotgun.

While checking on the man, police said they found a loaded sawed-off shotgun with a defaced serial number in the car.
