Police in Surrey are investigating two serious crashes overnight, one of which left a driver with life-threatening injuries.

Surrey RCMP said 152nd Street will be closed in both directions between 68th and 72nd avenues for much of Sunday morning due to a three-vehicle collision. The public is being asked to avoid the area.

At about 2:20 a.m. Sunday, police were called to the crash. The occupants of one of the three vehicles had fled on foot, but the driver of another vehicle was taken to hospital with “serious, possibly life-threatening injuries.”

A hydro pole was heavily damaged, but there were no reported power outages.

Another crash was reported early Sunday on 132nd Street between 78th and 82nd avenues.

Police say a Dodge Challenger and a Tesla collided at about 1:40 a.m. The occupants of the Dodge fled on foot while the Tesla driver was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

In a news release, Surrey RCMP Sgt. Chris De Hart 132nd Street was closed for a couple of hours but has since reopened.
