Swiss-style chalets will be located steps from the ski gondola and the first tee of the golf course for the best of both seasons.

As our helicopter slowly spins around at the far end of the development, the full scale of the Cabot Revelstoke project — including, of course, the spectacular Rod Whitman-designed golf course — comes into view. Rough-shaped golf holes rise and fall on the rocky and rugged terrain. The just-cleared site for the six Swiss-style chalets, located high on a ridge overlooking Mount Begbie and the serpentine Columbia River, is also recognizable from our high-in-the-sky view. And, of course, the front face of the Mountain Revelstoke Resort, with its twisted fingers of ski runs and mountain biking trails funnelling down the fall lines, is prominent to our left.

Yes, I think to myself, the people who purchase a home here will have quite the little playground.

Located roughly halfway between Calgary and Vancouver, wedged between the Selkirk, Monashee and Purcell mountain ranges, Revelstoke is a historic mountain town that has been charging ahead with many exciting developments in the past decade or so. Unquestionably, the launch of the Revelstoke Mountain Resort (in 2007) was a game changer. The massive four-season resort is home to the most vertical, 1,713 metres (5,620 feet), in North America and some of the best big mountain skiing on the planet.

In summer, the resort also boasts many attractions. The extremely popular pipe-coaster (trust me, it’s a wild ride!) from the base village was, and still is, a smash hit. Also, the resort boasts the longest machine-made mountain biking flow trail in the world. Fifty Six Twenty is a 15-kilometre marathon with, literally, hundreds of berms, jumps and side hits. So yes, safe to say that Revelstoke is no longer a place solely for railroaders and lumberjacks. Anyone who loves world-class mountain recreation — be it hiking, mountain biking, skiing and so on — can find their happy place in Revelstoke.

Adventurers looking for a luxurious recreational property can certainly find joy here, too. Not surprisingly, the “heavy hitters” leading the way in terms of resort and recreational property development in North America (and abroad) have taken notice when it comes to Revelstoke’s idyllic location and off-the-charts potential. The on-the-move Cabot group, for example, is one of the latest to make a splash in Revy.

“Cabot’s ethos is founded on a restless spirit of discovery,” says Diana McCarty, vice-president of real estate sales at Cabot Revelstoke. “It’s a brand that seeks out far-flung destinations primed for adventure and always looks to be stewards of the land while giving back to local communities. The area of Revelstoke, a mecca for experienced skiers and winter adventurers, will be a perfect addition to our Cabot portfolio. It’s an incredible mountain destination.”

Located at the base of Revelstoke Mountain Resort, near the gondola and the first tee of the soon-to-be-unveiled golf course, the real estate offerings at Cabot Revelstoke couldn’t be better positioned.

“The mountain, golf course, and Columbia River views from the chalets will be stunning,” says McCarty. “Phase 1, which will include 27 residences across two luxury chalets, has been launched and we anticipate this phase will be completed towards the end of 2026.”

In total, the project will comprise 79 luxurious residences in six beautiful Swiss-style chalets. The architecture, which draws inspiration from the classic ski chalets in the Dolomites, Austria and Switzerland, has a contemporary twist with high ceilings, large windows and multiple terraces. The interiors are Nordic inspired with stone fireplaces, warm wood tones and plenty of alpine elegance throughout. The architect of the chalets is Hart Howerton and the general contractor is M3. Each chalet will feature two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom residences. Two-bedroom units (1,880 square feet) start at $2.5 million and five-bedroom penthouses (3,630 square feet) start at $5.4 million.

Fittingly, there will be many additional amenities for homeowners to enjoy. A spa, fitness centre, gathering spaces and numerous dining options in the nearby base village will be steps away from the chalets.

Unquestionably, one of the main draws for prospective homeowners — and a unique attribute that sets the Cabot brand apart — is the quality of the golf experience. Like all of Cabot’s resorts and communities, the golf course at Cabot Revelstoke promises to yield something extraordinary.

The Cabot group, which was founded by Canadian Ben Cowan-Dewar together with his American business partner, Mike Keiser, is renowned for their award-winning golf-focused resorts and communities in places like Nova Scotia (Cabot Cape Breton is home to, arguably, the two best golf courses in Canada) and Cabot Saint Lucia (the just-opened Point Hardy Golf Club features some of the most eye-popping seaside holes in golf). They also have developments in Florida (Cabot Citrus Farms) and Scotland (Cabot Highlands).

In terms of the expectations for the Cabot Revelstoke golf course, they are, understandably, high. Architect Rod Whitman, together with his partners Dave Axland and Keith Cutten, have created that rare feat: a “playable” mountain golf course that will feature non-stop “wow” moments (seeding and shaping will finish in 2024 and the course is scheduled to open in 2025).

After our helicopter tour of the Cabot Revelstoke site, our media group wrapped up our sneak peek with a walking tour of the golf course with Cabot’s ownership group and architects.

In my eyes, the star of the show was the 250-yard 8th, which will require a mighty blast over a massive ravine. I lingered on this hole for a long time, considering all the angles and strategically sculpted contours around the giant green complex.

No doubt it will take many rounds to tame this beast, I thought. However, when the time comes, I’m sure every future homeowner and member at Cabot Revelstoke will relish the challenge.
