RCMP have charged a Stoney Nakoda First Nation woman with second-degree murder in relation to a September homicide.

Stoney Nakoda RCMP were called to a home for a disturbance on Sept. 8, 2023, arriving to find 55-year-old Donald Nepoose, a resident of the nation, dead on scene. An autopsy days later confirmed that Nepoose’s death was a homicide.

After a months-long investigation, Mounties arrested and charged 48-year-old Cynthia Dixon, also a Stoney Nakoda resident, with second-degree murder.

Dixon remains in custody after a bail hearing and was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday in Cochrane.

Stoney Nakoda First Nation is located about 50 kilometres west of Calgary.
