Environment Canada issued a snow warning Wednesday morning warning that up to 20 centimetres of snow is expected, starting Wednesday evening in the south of the province. Areas farther east will be more affected Thursday.
Daytime rain in Montreal will turn to snow Wednesday evening, with five to 10 cm of accumulation expected. The snow, which could be heavy at times, will continue Thursday.

“The rapid accumulation of snow could make travel difficult in some areas. There could be significant repercussions on rush-hour traffic in urban areas,” Environment Canada said.
Montreal has just begun a massive spring cleanup campaign that will have to be suspended for snow-clearing.
Winter tires have not been mandatory in the province since March 15. Spring and summer parking restrictions went into force April 1.
The Outaouais, Montérégie, Laurentians and Lanaudière will also be affected by the storm system. Estrie could see up to 25 cm.
Since temperatures will hover around the freezing mark, the snow could be “very heavy and sticky.” Power outages will be possible in places.
It’s expected to rain Thursday evening and into Friday, before the sun returns for the weekend.
Central and eastern Quebec will not be spared by this low pressure system, but the snow will hit Thursday, with accumulations of 15 to 25 cm. Northeastern New Brunswick could see more than 30 cm of snow. In Nova Scotia, snow could fall until Saturday.
