It was a brutal day for the Blue Jays organization, as there were no wins between the four affiliates.

The only way the Blue Jays avoided the organization sweep is because the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Chicago White Sox.

Let’s dig into the latest Minor League Report!

Buffalo blown out over two days

This game started on Wednesday, but was finished on Thursday, with the Bisons falling 18-3.

Will Robertson was easily Buffalo’s player of the game, going 3-5 with his seventh home run of the season, while Spencer Horwtiz hit his 16th double of the season, tied for the lead in the International League.

Other players with a hit were Nathan Lukes, Addison Barger, Leo Jimenez, Max McDowell, and Cam Eden, who had a multi-hit game as well.

Bowden Francis made the start on Wednesday, finishing with a line of 2.1 IP, 3 H, 2 ER (3 R), 0 BB, 1 K with a home run given up. Brandon Eister pitched a third of an inning with a walk and a hit, before the rain delay ended Wednesday’s portion of the game.

On Thursday, Paxton Schultz started the middle of the third with a walk and a strikeout, and finished with a line of 1 IP, 2 H, 4 ER, 4 BB, 2 K. Next up was Mike Mayers, who gave up a hit and a walk but struck out a batter in an inning and a third of work. Rehabbing reliever Chad Green walked a batter in a scoreless inning, while Troy Watson and Connor Cooke both gave up two earned runs in their inning of work, with Cooke walking four.

Catcher Max McDowll pitched the final inning, and it went as one would expect, as he gave up seven earned runs with a walk and a strikeout. His ERA for the season is 30.86.

New Hampshire lost 11-2

Action in Double-A didn’t go much better, as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats fell 11-2 to the Somerset Patriots to move their record to 17-23, worst in the Eastern League Northeast division.

The team had just three hits, with Alan Roden hitting a single and Andres Sosa hitting two singles. However, the Fisher Cats did get quite a few base runners, as Devonte Brown walked three times, Alex De Jesus walked twice, with Josh Kasevich, Miguel Hiraldo, and Sosa all walking once.

It was a rough outing for pitchers as well. Starter CJ Van Eyk finished with a line of 4 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, 4 BB, 4 K with a home run given up to bring his season ERA to 7.24. Trent Palmer gave up two earned runs in an inning of work, while Andrew Bechtold finished with the only scoreless outing, walking a batter in his two innings of work.

Trevor Clifton finished the game, giving up five earned runs and two walks in two innings pitched to bring his season ERA to 5.89.

Vancouver’s losing streak hits five games

It’s been a rough go of things over Vancouver’s last five games, as a 5-3 loss to the Hillsboro Hops saw their record drop to 16-21.

Dasan Brown hit the team’s only extra-base hit, his first triple of the season, while also hitting a single. Jeffrey Wehler also had a two-hit performance, while Ryan McCarty, Estiven Machado, and Jommer Hernandez all had one single on the day.

Geison Urbaez had the start for Vancouver, finishing with a line of 1.2 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 2 K to bring his season ERA to 3.09. Carson Pierce gave up an earned run, but struck out two in his two innings and a third pitched. Rafael Ohashi once again had a scoreless outing, pitching two innings with three walks and two strikeouts.

Johnathan Lavallee struck out two in his inning of work, while Justin Kelly gave up an earned run and two hits, but struck out the side which gave him a season ERA of 2.87.

Dunedin’s six-game win streak ended

After a sizable losing streak early in the season, the Dunedin Blue Jays stormed back to a 20-20 record heading into Wednesday’s game. Sadly, they fell 7-1 to the Bradenton Marauders to bring their season record to 20-21, ending their six-game win streak.

There wasn’t a whole lot of action in this game either, as Dunedin mustered just five hits on the day, all of which were singles. Tucker Toman and Manuel Beltre both had two-hit performances, while Yhoangel Aponte had one single, as well as a walk. Victor Arias had two walks, while Edward Duran also had a free pass.

Despite the lack of hits, Juaron Watts-Brown actually had a solid start, finishing with a line of 4 IP, 3 H, 2 ER (3 R), 3 BB, 8 K to bring his season ERA to 4.22. Yondrei Rojas was the first out of the pen, walking a batter and giving up a hit while also striking out a batter in his inning of work. Irv Carter had a great appearance, striking out three in two innings.

Unfortunately, Kai Peterson gave up four earned runs in a third of an inning pitched, including walking three batters. Jordan Powell had to clean up that inning, walking two, giving up a hit, while striking out the last two batters.
