Peel Regional Police have charged a 23-year-old Malton man with second degree murder in the death of a 58-year-old man back in January.

Police say on Jan. 29 at 8:13 a.m., a man was found suffering from significant trauma after being assaulted in the lobby of 7110 Darcel Avenue in Malton.

The victim, identified as Keith Lasaga, was taken to hospital where he remained in critical condition until succumbing to his injuries on March 23.

On Feb. 20, the individual believed to be responsible for the assault was arrested and on April 4, Muhammad Khan of Malton, was re-arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

The accused and the victim are not known to one another.
