The article “Jew targets” by Lorrie Goldstein on March 7 as well as others in the Sun regarding the anti-Semitic, Toronto-area Palestinian protesters was excellent. While being tragic, the number of people killed so far in Gaza can be attributed to only one factor. If Hamas, with the help of the useless UN and their UNRWA “buddies” had not invaded Israel last October, all those people would still be alive! As for the so called “protesters” how long will it be before they show their true colours and start yelling “Sieg Heil”?

BIKE LANE BOMBARDMENT

Recent events have caused me to question what interpretation the City of Toronto is attaching to the word ‘consultation.’ On receipt of a flyer regarding the proposed changes to facilitate bicycle traffic from Leaside to the Danforth I provided my input online. A meeting was also scheduled for March 7 to seek input. I was surprised to note that the city has already posted blue signs in the area showing the proposed routing as already in place. So much for consultation! In the 56 years that I have lived in the area there does not appear to be a surge in bicycle traffic except in the last few years where EV delivery bicycles have been flying by at speeds exceeding the speed limit! Is this a case of a ‘solution looking for a problem’? The proposal shows a reduction on a portion of O’Connor Dr. for vehicular traffic to one lane each way (with dedicated bike lanes complete with concrete barriers) which will prove interesting the first time the Don Valley Parkway is closed. Currently there is a bike trail in the Don Valley in close proximity to the start of where traffic will be impacted but no one is suggesting utilizing this as a means of travelling. Recognizing the amount of gridlock currently in the city, it amazes me how much power the bike lobby has to get this pushed through.
