The lawyer for Calgary’s latest murder suspect said Tuesday he needs Crown disclosure before determining the next step in the case.
Defence counsel Allan Fay appeared briefly in Calgary Court of Justice on behalf of Ryan Kinoshita in connection with the killing of the accused’s landlord last week.

Outside court, Fay said he will need to get information about the allegations against his client from assigned prosecutor Scott Wilson before he can determine his next move.
“I’ve just been retained as his counsel, so I need to get disclosure of the Crown’s file,” he said.
“Once I have that disclosure I can review it with my client and discuss the next step.”
Among the steps Fay will have to consider is whether he will seek bail for his client pending trial and when a preliminary inquiry can be scheduled.
Police said Clark, 46, was fatally stabbed inside the home he owned on Prestwick Terrace S.E.
“Investigators believe the fatal assault was the result of a dispute between the victim and the accused,” police said in a news release last week.
Derek Henson, a longtime friend of Clark’s, said his death is an “absolute tragedy,” but believes his friend will be remembered for the good he imparted to those around him.
“The memory of him and who he was and everything he did, I think, is going to be carried forward in all of the people that he’s helped, influenced and changed,” said Henson, who said he knew Clark for almost 30 years, meeting as young adults in Victoria.
