Wrexham is a Welsh soccer club that was languishing in the fifth tier of English soccer before being purchased and given the A-list treatment by megastar Ryan Reynolds and co-owner Rob McElhenney.

They bought the team for $2.5-million in 2021 and since then there have been some big signings and investment into the stadium, leading up to a long-awaited promotion last season.

In 2023, the team made the journey to the U.S. for their USA Invasion tour and played four games. They were in Los Angeles, North Carolina, San Diego and Philadelphia.

And it’s clear Whitecaps fans want them to return to North America this summer by the reaction to the Whitecaps vague announcement. And the dragon emoji that came with the cryptic message? The dragon is a symbol of Wales.
