Every time it looks like the Blue Jays will start going on a roll, the bats go silent.

On Monday, the Blue Jays started a three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers, falling 3-1. Had they won this game, they would have reached the .500 mark for the first time in a while, but their record now sits at 32-34.

The Blue Jays actually scored the first run of the game, as Alejandro Kirk hit his second home run of the season, a 405-foot blast that came off the bat at 110.1 mph. Over his last 70 plate appearances coming into this game, Kirk was slashing .276/.371/.397 with five extra-base hits.

Their lead wouldn’t last long though, as former top 10 prospect in baseball, Jackson Chouiro, hit his seventh home run of the season to tie the game in the following half inning.

José Berríos allowed a second solo-home run in the bottom of the fourth, as Willy Adames hit his 10th home run of the season. In the bottom of the sixth, Adames hit a sacrifice fly to make it a 3-1 game. Enough for the Brewers to win it.

Things worth mentioning…

José Berríos didn’t have his best start of the season, finishing with a line of 5.2 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 4 K with two home runs given up. His season ERA now sits at 2.93.

Brendon Little had his best ever outing in the big leagues, striking out three batters in two innings pitched. Zach Pop also threw a third of an inning, striking out a batter.

Spencer Horwitz had his best game of the season, hitting a double and a single while striking out once. Daulton Varsho and Alejandro Kirk had the other hits in what was a quiet game for the bats.

Up next: The Blue Jays return to action at the same time on Tuesday, with Yusei Kikuchi getting the ball for the Jays. Milwaukee’s starter has yet to be determined.
